Frequently Asked Questions
Answers to the most common questions about PalcoTimer.
General Questions
What is PalcoTimer?
PalcoTimer is a cloud-based professional countdown timer system. It lets you control timers remotely while presenters view them fullscreen on other devices, all synchronized in real-time.
Do I need to install any app?
No! PalcoTimer works 100% in the browser. Just access it through Chrome, Firefox, Safari, or Edge on any device (computer, tablet, or phone).
How many devices can connect?
There's no limit to simultaneously connected devices. Your entire team can follow the timers at the same time.
Does it work offline?
PalcoTimer requires an internet connection to sync between devices. For offline use, we recommend having a local backup (phone stopwatch, for example).
Technical Questions
How does synchronization work?
We use our LiveSync technology based on WebSocket to keep all devices synchronized in real-time. Actions are propagated instantly to everyone connected.
What's the synchronization latency?
Under normal network conditions, latency is less than 100ms. That means everyone sees practically the same time at the same instant.
What happens if the connection drops?
The system tries to reconnect automatically. During disconnection, the timer continues running locally and resynchronizes when the connection is restored.
Can I use it with transparent background?
Yes! Add ?background=transparent to the Viewer URL to use as an overlay in OBS or other software.

Can I cancel anytime?
Yes! Subscriptions can be canceled anytime through the billing portal. You keep access until the end of the paid period.
Integrations
Does it work with OBS Studio?

Can I control it with Stream Deck?
Yes! We offer simple HTTP control URLs that can be used with Stream Deck, Bitfocus Companion, or any device that supports HTTP requests.
Is there an API for integration?
Yes! We offer a complete REST API and WebSocket events to integrate PalcoTimer with your systems. See the API REST documentation.
Does it work with vMix?
Yes! vMix supports Browser Input, which works the same way as OBS Browser Source. Just add the Viewer URL as an input.
